Collecting for the Future’ presents current positions from the collection to make fundamental statements about the significance of drawing, printmaking, and photography in our globally and digitally interconnected present. The exhibition is conceived as an experiment: significant works by both well-known and lesser-known artists...underscore the freedom of art, which acts as a seismograph for the issues of our time and, in the spirit of an open society, overcomes existing barriers. Among the artists representedare Tacita Dean, Tracy Emin, Félix González-Torres, Mona Hatoum, Eberhard Havekost, Olaf Holzapfel, Roni Horn, Jacqueline Merz, Carsten Nicolai, Thomas Ruff and Wolfgang Tillmans. The exhibition will offer a glimpse into the future based on recently acquired collection highlights, including important works from the Günther and Annemarie Gercken Foundation. (Text: SKD)
