In Textilien berühren sich Tradition und Gegenwart, Kunst und Kunsthandwerk, treffen lokale Formen des Wissens und globale Beziehungen aufeinander. Es gibt kaum eine Region, in der sich das Textile nicht vielschichtig in die Kultur- und Industriegeschichte eingeschrieben hätte. So erzählt ein Stoff auch davon, welche Materialien wann und wo wichtig wurden, wie Techniken migrierten und sich weiterentwickelten. 

Die Bauhaus-Künstlerin Anni Albers beschrieb 1965 „das Ereignis eines Fadens“ als etwas multilineares, ohne Anfang und Ende. Eine Möglichkeit, Beziehungen und Zusammenhänge immer wieder neu zu betrachten und zu strukturieren.  
Nach Stationen in Dresden, Kuwait, Istanbul, Beersheba, Limassol, Thessaloniki, Tunis, Prishtinë, Skopje,  Novi Sad und Jerewan kommt die ifa Tourneeausstellung nun nach Mexico City.

14 künstlerische Positionen aus der Sammlung des ifa treten in einen Dialog mit zehn Werken aus der Sammlung des Museo Tamayo-INBAL. Somit eröffnet sich ein Austausch zwischen Moderne und Gegenwart, der sich durch formale und konzeptuelle Experimente mit der textilen Technik entfaltet.  
Die Werke zeigen zudem, wie das Textile über seine rein materielle Dimension hinausgeht und zu einem Medium der Auseinandersetzung mit Abstraktion, Farbe und den vielfältigen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten der Form wird.

In textiles, tradition meets the present, arts meet crafts, local forms of knowledge meet global relationships. Personal and aesthetic stories connect with those about social and economic conditions. There is hardly a region in which the textiles have not inscribed themselves into cultural and industrial history. Thus textiles also narrate the migration and evolution of materials and techniques. 

Anni Albers described „the event of a thread“ as something multilinear, without beginning or end: more broadly, it signifies constant scope to rethink relations and to restructure connections and contexts. 

Following stops in Dresden, Kuwait, Istanbul, Beersheba, Limassol, Thessaloniki, Tunis, Prishtinë, Skopje, Novi Sad and Yerevan, the ifa touring exhibition now arrives in Mexico City. 
Fourteen artistic positions from the ifa collection enter into dialogue with ten works from the collection of the Museo Tamayo-INBAL. This opens up an exchange between modern and contemporary art that unfolds through formal and conceptual experiments with textile techniques. 
The works also demonstrate how textiles transcend their purely material dimension to become a medium for exploring abstraction, colour, and the manifold expressive possibilities of form.
